Horseback / Lake or Movie: Room Availability & Reservations

For $638 plus tax, this package for two includes two midweek (Sun. – Thurs.) nights in one of the Alpenhorn's premium queen rooms, the Alpenhorn's Four Diamond service and amenities, a two-hour horseback adventure in the mountains. The guide will describe the area's rich history and discuss flora and fauna and ecological issues in the Valley. Then take a two-hour lake cruise while the Captain describes the lake's history and ecology. This package would normally cost over $725. Please mention special A5 when making your reservation. (No other discounts or promotions apply.) Add a third night for just $235 plus tax. During winter months, the lake is closed, but anytime during the year, you can enjoy our horseback and movie special for the same price. If you choose the movie special, in addition to admission for two, we will even throw in popcorn and drinks. What a deal!

Hiking: Room Availability & Reservations

For $640 plus tax, this package for two includes two midweek (Sun. - Thurs.) nights in one of the Alpenhorn's premium queen rooms, the Alpenhorn's Four Diamond service and amenities, and an all day guided hike, including lunch in a souvenir Alpenhorn knapsack, to some of the most remote and scenic areas of the San Bernardino Mountains. Hikes range from easy to very difficult. This package would normally cost over $742. Please mention special A6 when making your reservation. (No other discounts or promotions apply.) Murder Mysteries:
Now you can enjoy all that the Alpenhorn has to offer and solve a mystery too. And you won't just be a spectator. Everyone is assigned roll. How do the mysteries work? You gather a group of your friends (we need at least ten participants) for a two-day celebration - a year's worth of birthdays, anniversaries, or whatever. You can assign the roles or we can. Then guests receive their role assignments a few weeks in advance. Upon arrival, guests are free to enjoy Big Bear and become familiar with their roles on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Saturday evening, we dress for dinner. Wear a costume suitable for your assigned role. The mystery unfolds during a party Saturday afternoon and evening. Prizes are awarded to those who identify the murderer. Cost is normal room rate plus $70 per couple for the party Saturday evening. As usual, guests will be responsible for their own costumes. Death in them thar hills:

This 1880s murder mystery takes place near the Grand Canyon where prospector and gold mine owner "Dusty" Jones is being honored by the residents of Cactus Gulch. Jones had arrived in town five years before, flat broke and relying upon the generosity of local residents to help him get by. Today, he is the sole owner of the TAqIlA mine (He named it after his favorite drink, but Dusty never could spell). Key citizens of Cactus Gulch have assembled to honor Dusty. Each one rises to say a few words about him and his contributions to the community. Then, it's Dusty's turn. After speaking his mind, Dusty raises a glass of Gila Gold, his favorite brand of tequila. He sits down and, a few minutes later, slumps over in his chair - dead. The marshal then takes charge of the investigation as the suspects are interrogated. Additional clues and key information are revealed as everyone is asked to figure out who killed Dusty Jones.

Final Curtain: This is a mystery set in London in 1926. Someone has murdered a famous actor right on the stage and in front of everyone. Who did it? The ladies wear flapper outfits, and the men wear the latest in gangster garb.

Death Bemoans Her: Our first for all women! It's the quarterly meeting of the Gazillionaire Girls Group, an exclusive club whose membership is comprised of successful women - all of whom made it big without relying upon the other gender. The next morning, the body of one of the women is found floating nearby the yacht. After investigating the incident, police quickly determine that evidence points toward homicide. A killer has suddenly and permanently halted someone's career, and your job is to figure out who did it. Put together your group at the Alpenhorn for this one. You won't be sorry. It's great fun.
